Sewing Machine

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2
Timothy 2:15
One evening during Stitch-in-Time, one of the
ladies was having a difficult time with her sewing machine. Curious to see if I
could help, I asked her what was the problem. She proceeded to tell me that
because she was working a small project she decided not to bring her good sewing
machine but brought her old sewing machine. The problem wasn't with her machine.
She hadn't used the machine for a while and had forgotten how to thread it.
When it comes to the Bible, many people experience a similar problem. The
problem isn't the Bible. The problem is lack of use. This lack of use
causes us to experience difficulty when they try and use it. Is the book
of Jude in the Old Testament or in the New Testament? Who is Jude? What in the
world is he saying in the book? Maybe a more basic question, "Who is Jesus?" Our
scripture verse provides a solution for our unfamiliarity with the Bible. Study
God's Word. Get to know where the books can be found. Get to know the people in
the Bible but most of all get to know the God of the Bible. The more a person
uses their Bible, the more familiar he becomes with it and the better he will
understand its message. The problems people have with the Bible and its message,
most often, is the result of ignorance due to lack of use not because they use
it too much.
Let the message of God's Word surprise you. Read your Bible and study its
message.
