Spiritual Disciple III

Read: Psalm 139

Successful Christian living results from following the rules God has set down for His children. So far we
have discovered two spiritual disciplines: BE FAITHFUL IN DAILY PRAYER, and BE FAITHFUL IN DAILY BIBLE READING. To recognize and practice these disciplines will be a help in getting us started in a proper manner. Today we come to the third spiritual discipline rule God has given to us. The Psalmist speaks of it in the 139th Psalm: “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me.”

Our third spiritual discipline for daily living is: BE CONSTANTLY A WARE OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD. The Lord Jesus promised His disciples that He would always be with them. Remember that He hears everything you say, sees everything you do, and understands every thought and intent of your heart. If we were to live every day with the constant awareness that Jesus is present, watching and listening to all that we do, the more we would do and say for His honor and glory.

The next time you begin to lose your temper — Remember God is present! The next time you begin to take the Lord’s name in vain — Remember God is present! The next time you begin to act unkindly —
Remember God is present!

What a change in our lives there would be if we were constantly aware of the presence of God. How much more He would receive the glory due Him instead of the self-glory we seek and so many times receive.
